Eastern Districts on the March

Goldfields go up!

In only their second year back in the Landmark Country Championships the Goldfields have gone one better than 2017 and claimed the Division 2 title with a hard fought 33-point victory over Mortlock. After an impressive showing last year the Goldfields were determined to go secure promotion to the top flight and that’s exactly what the did, largely on the back of a final term blitz in which they piled on six goals to two.

The South West Football League have returned to the pinnacle of WA Country Football after victory in the Division 1 Landmark Country Football Championships decider against Avon on Sunday. After progressing through the qualifying rounds unbeaten the Green and gold looked primed to atone for the previous two years Grand Finals losses. Standing in their way though were a determined Avon side that put a couple of lean carnivals behind them with an outstanding round of qualifying matches that saw their only loss come at the hands of the South West.

CBH Group Colts Carnival - Preview

You would be hard pressed to find a better Grand Final than the 2017 CBH Group Colts Carnival decider between the South West and Peel. A set shot after the siren was a fitting way to decide the competition and the 2018 version is building up to be much of the same. South West have been powerhouses of the competition since its inception in 2000 claiming 14 of 18 titles along the way and will be looking to make it a hattrick of titles in 2018. The competition though has never been as close as it has been in the last four years with narrow victories in 2016 and 2017 following on the back of break through wins for the Northern Suns (2015) and Peel (2014).
