Belt Up Round

This year marks the 21st year of partnership between the WACFL and the Insurance Commission promoting the Belt up road safety message on WA roads. A major component of the partnership is the Belt up Round, which will take place across the state this weekend (18-19 May).  The round has a special significance for our 12,500 country football players, as many will know someone affected by a road crash. Players will hold a minute’s silence to remember those injured or killed as a reminder of the importance of safety on country roads.

Illegal Drug Round Success

The Avon Football Association hosted the first Tackling Illegal Drug Round last weekend with three fixtures across the promotional round. In the lead up to the matches, all Clubs participated in a Club Information Session which unearthed 36 Peer Support Volunteers.  These volunteers will be provided with professional development on Club Management, Illegal Drugs, Mental Health and Mentoring to support the development of healthier club environments.

Tackling Illegal Drugs Round

The Avon Football Association (AFA) will be holding a Tackling Illegal Drugs Round on Sunday 28 April as part of its involvement in the Alcohol and Drug Foundation’s (ADF) Club Leadership Project taking place in the League over the 2019 season. The WACFL- who oversees the facilitation of country football amongst its 25 Leagues and 150 Clubs (around the state), received a funding grant from the ADF in 2018, to run a pilot program aimed at reducing illegal and illicit drug use in the region, through building a Club Leadership Program. The Project is supported by the Good Sports initiative.

Fun Run to raise awareness for Mental Health!

The Dampier Sharks from the North Pilbara Football League hosted the Heart and Sole Mental Health Run on Saturday 13th of April. With around 150 residents participating in the 7km fun run, they raised more then $2000.
