Four teams of Country Colts descended on Wongan Hills last weekend with the aim of knocking off the GNFL team who have been undefeated in the four previous years of the carnival.  

The home side Mortlock was predicted to have a strong unit, and they were able to get the best of the conditions in the first match of the carnival and kicked well with a strong breeze in the second half to prove the Great Northern team could be beaten.

This was a great start to the carnival and ensured each match was hotly contested as teams vied for a grand final birth.  By Sunday afternoon all teams had given there all and were ready for the journey home.

Great Northern- Responded well from a surprising upset loss and got better as the carnival went on running out comfortable winners of the Grand Final.

Mortlock- proved they were a force to be reckoned with defeating the GNFL, will give them confidence to go one better next year.

Avon- took a while to get into the swing of things but played some great footy over the weekend narrowly missing out on grand final qualification.

North Midlands- brought a young side away this year but got better as the carnival went on and will be stronger next year.

Central Midlands- genuinely unlucky not to win some games after challenging a number of the stronger teams. 

North Midlands Beau Simpson was announced the player of the Carnival

Northern Suns selectors were happy with the talent on display and are confident if they can get a number of the allstars to perth in 3 weeks' time, they'll again be competitive and challenge for the title at Country week.
