State Selectors have named a powerful side in the lead up to the New Holland State sides trial match against the WAAFL Under 23's on Friday.

The match will be used predominately to look at the better over 25 prospects with an Under 25's side playing the State 18's the following Friday.

State Coach Craig Walker was keen to see the guys in action this weekend after regular travel watching club games with his band of selectors, "We don't get too many opportunities to see the guys play as a squad, so we are hoping to see who puts their hand up for selection to go to South Australia in July"

It is certainly pleasing to see a number of former WAFL players with country backgroups putting their hands up for State Country selection.

Scott Worthington (pictured) returned to Boulder this season after a succesful WAFL career and has been in fantastic form in the Goldfields playing Centre Half Forward for the Tigers.

"To be able to include guys like Wortho, Jonsey (Brendon Jones), Kyle Hams etc in the side certainly gets other guys keen to get involved in the program. Playing State Country should be considered the highest honour a country player can achieve" Walker said.

Bouncedown is at 7:30pm at East Fremantle Oval with the CBH Group Country Colts in action immediately prior against the WAAFL Colts.
